In an episode that explores some S.H.I.E.L.D. history, and some true American college rivalry, the team journey to the Science Academy of SHIELD. A place where Fitz and Simmons are hailed as celebrities, and where Grant Ward feels out of place.
After a mysterious event involving a rapidly freezing swimming pool, the team must deduce which brilliant pupil caused the accident. They explore around the area, and after one Donny Gill gets frozen during a lecture, Fitz gets to know him. After a serious of rapid events, it turns out Donny Gill and a friend are developing some sort of massive scale freezing device and are planning on selling it to none other than Ian Quinn.
I like this episode for the true season 1 S.H.I.E.L.D. feeling it has. The team solve the problem in record time and deal with, and the “villain” has a little change of heart at the end, something I always appreciate my villains doing. Blizzard, or Donny Gill is a welcome addition to show (even though he only has one other surprise appearance) and I welcome his kind of “anti-Fitz” character. Also May’s confession to Coulson was hilarious.
